Description
Charles Cole of Sebago, a private in Co. K of the 25th Maine Infantry, wrote to his family in late November 1862 that he was healthy and well fed, the barracks were warm, and they had a wood stove for heat.
Responding to a letter, he wrote that he was upset that a neighbor of his family in Sebago, Joe Wiggins, or one of his family stole a turkey from the Coles, but is happy his mother still had one for Thanksgiving.
